Recently, the power distribution system project for a large-scale mall in Ethiopia has been successfully completed. As a key infrastructure project supporting local commercial development, this project has built a stable, safe, and efficient power supply network for the mall, laying a solid foundation for its operation and future expansion.
Focus on Core Needs: Commercial Operations Demand Reliable Power
With the booming development of Ethiopia’s commercial real estate sector, modern malls have become core scenes for urban consumption and social activities. However, mall operations involve diverse loads such as lighting, air conditioning, elevators, retail equipment, and fire protection systems, placing extremely high demands on power supply stability. The client specified three core requirements: adaptation to full load scenarios from 32A to 800A, guarantee of uninterrupted power supply, and compliance with local and international safety standards.
Customized Solutions: Dual Guarantee of Hierarchical Power Distribution + Emergency Redundancy
To address these needs, the project team developed a full-chain solution covering "main incoming line — regional distribution — end-user control — emergency backup".
Featuring 5 types of specialized power distribution equipment and a single-phase ATS emergency system:
Hierarchical Precision Power Supply: From 4P-32A distribution boxes serving small store lighting, 40A-10 branch boxes for public areas, 125A/200A regional boxes supporting air conditioning and escalators, to 800A main distribution boxes controlling the entire system, the solution precisely adapts to different load scenarios.
Emergency Core: ATS Cabinet: As a key guarantee, this equipment automatically switches between main and backup power within 0.2 seconds, ensuring critical systems such as fire emergency lighting, surveillance, and cash registers remain operational. It is also adapted to local 220V single-phase load requirements.
Multiple Safety Protections: Equipment-level circuit breakers, system-level ATS redundancy, and IP30 protection design fully comply with the Ethiopian Electrical Installation Code (EEIC) and international standards.

Project Achievements: Stable, Efficient, and Empowering Commercial Growth
Since commissioning, the project has achieved "zero power outages and zero safety incidents", with voltage stability reaching 99.9% during peak hours. The zoned control and rapid fault isolation design have increased operation and maintenance efficiency by 60%. Reserved expansion interfaces can meet the power needs of the mall’s future new areas and additional equipment.
This project not only provides reliable power support for the local mall but also demonstrates the core value of customized power distribution solutions in emerging market commercial infrastructure, injecting impetus into Africa’s commercial infrastructure development.
